I Thought I Loved Bacon

January 28th, 2009 | Category: ramblings

Alright,  I thought I had a serious love of bacon and could figure out anything to make with it.  I definitely use it to enhance the flavor of foods that don’t have bacon.  I even own Bacon Salt.  I also have a mean love of some good bbq.  I’ve added bacon to bbq in the past but not to the extent of this monster.

That is a serious heart attack waiting to happen.  I bet it’s incredible on the flavor department.  I do believe I will make this for Super Bowl on Sunday.  See how well it works out.  Much better than bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers.

Also along the lines of bacon.  There’s Bacon Camp in San Francisco this March. That sounds like good times. I have quite a few bacon recipes I can bust out and attempt to use that nobody else might. I should pay attention to that site to see what everyone else is making and then do something completely different. Pate with bacon? That sounds good.

Keeping Resolutions

January 28th, 2009 | Category: ramblings

Like many people I’ve made resolutions for the new year.  It’s been tough keeping them but I’ve been slowly working on it.  I have been hitting up Muy Thai at Gym 445 almost once a week, I’ll get to the at least twice a week sooner rather than later hopefully.  The other thing I’ve been trying to do is at least jog/walk a mile a day and build up to being able to run three kilometers in 30 minutes.

The running has been a bitch because I’m just guestimating what I’ve really been doing.  That is until I went through Life Hacker and found a post about RunKeeper.  There is a free version available but I didn’t want to deal with advertisements and ten bucks for the pro version really ain’t that much.

I did my first test with a walk a few minutes ago, mostly because I’m already wearing jeans and didn’t want to get into running gear.  I have to say I’m impressed with the application.  It does keep track of your route fairly well, and it does average out how fast you walk or run.  It should be very helpful in keeping track of my running and help me meet the goals I’ve set for myself.

Akai APC 40

January 19th, 2009 | Category: i want,music,ramblings

Akai and Ableton have teamed up and released the APC 40 controller for Ableton Live.  Damn that thing looks schweeeeeeeet.  It’s pretty much the controller everyone has ever wanted when it comes to using Live.  It’s intuitive and has all the functionality you could ever need when creating new tracks or entire live sets to be performed.  Not to mention crazy easy to switch between clips and play what’s needed.  Follow actions might not really be needed much by me anymore.

With that said, Ableton also released Live version 8.  Damn it has quite a few things that I’ve wanted.  Hopefully Ernie can keep me focused long enough to collaborate on a track or two this year, and see what comes of that.  I really shouldn’t be thinking about spending money, but I can’t help it.  Some things just give you that gear lust and there’s no going back.

Bacon Watch

January 19th, 2009 | Category: humor,i want,ramblings

It’s no secret that I have a slight obsession with bacon.  Everything tastes better with bacon.  It’s the best meat known to man, ever.  Hands down nothing can beat the power of bacon.

Now if I were to ever wear a watch again, something I haven’t done since I was in the 5th grade and g-shock watches were all the rage, I would definitely pick up this one.  It’s bacon that tells time.

Of course over at Archie McPhee’s there’s all sorts of other bacon swag.  It’s like going to a store in china town only on the web.  It’s good times.

Down Time

January 08th, 2009 | Category: news

Apparently the old version of word press I was using borked it’s own database.  Go me!  I really should start writing more and I think I’ll work on that.  On the bright side there wasn’t really anything of importance up here.  Time to start a new in the new year.

So far, I definitely like wordpress 2.7.  The admin is great.
