Oh Fuck You California

April 20th, 2009 | Category: ramblings

1911a1.jpegOh fuck you California. Really, fuck you and your scared ass. You’re going to keep on taxing my legal ass, and making it harder for me to buy shit? You really think this is going to make people not want to own firearms and ammunition?

Barring me from making internet orders for ammunition for the guns I legally own? You know why I do that? It’s cheaper! I bought the 7.62x54r ammo I have on the internet because it was a sweet deal and I love going to the range with my M44 and my 1911. I have been looking for a deal on .45 ammo like I got with the 7.62 so I can go to the range and not spend an arm and a leg.

Guess this just means when I go to Nevada for gun shows I’ll have to bring extra money for boxes of ammo.

This whole thing is retarded. I had to get my thumb print taken in order to buy both of the guns I own. I have them registered legally. Now I’m gonna have to have my thumb taken again? Is there going to be a waiting period on ammo? Come on, this is just stupid.

Quick, and Good, Crab & Tomato Bisque

April 20th, 2009 | Category: food

stewed tomatoes.jpegI’m a fan of cooking. I’m also a fan of two styles of it. Ghetto, or taking my sweet sweet time, cooking. Of course my ghetto recipes can be turned into great recipes that take time to cook if you get rid of canned foods. This one is about the tomato and crab bisque I just made trying to figure out what I should do to create one. My last attempt at making a tomato based vegetable soup was a horrible experiment. While tasty did not have the consistency that I wished.

Ingredients needed:

  • Three cans of Del Monte canned stewed tomatoes.
  • One can of crab meat
  • Half a stick of butter
  • About a cup of milk
  • handful of flour

You can stew your own tomatoes, get your own fresh crab, or add and remove other vegetables and spices. I went with two cans of the italian style tomatoes and one can of the mexican style. These had celery, onions, and various herbs and spices already added so I didn’t have to do too much.

Start off heating all the tomatoes in a pot. Then you’re gonna create a rue. Basically you brown the handful of flour in a pan, then melt in butter. Mix it around until the flour is fully absorbed into the butter. Pour in your milk and stir that until the entire mixture resembles paste.

Now that the tomatoes are heated add the can of crab meat and the rue to the pot. Grab your hand mixer and go to town. Should take less than 10 minutes to create this entire meal.

Serve cold on a hot day, serve hot on a cold day. Garish how you wish. I went with club crackers :p

What ever is left over after dinner tonight will go into my dehydrator and put in the freezer. Should keep for a couple of years if it’s cold because of the oil and crab in the soup.

Ghosts

April 20th, 2009 | Category: puppy

IMG_0148My apartment seems to be haunted. As you can see there’s a little ghost running around trying to be cute instead of scaring me. Though sometimes she lets out the puppy rage, as in from 28 Days Later, and goes absolutely ape with the kisses and running around like a crazy dog on meth.

It’s been almost two months since Daffy came into my life and I have to say she’s quite the little bundle of joy and chaos. She’s generally pretty good, and listens when there aren’t other dogs or people around. Just gets too god damn excited for her own good.

We have been going to the fenced in dog park over by 38th and Fulton so she can be better socialized with dogs and work on no leash training. Unfortunately a good many times I’m there people have some pretty crappy dogs there. Ones that are gigantic, and meant for hunting, not being well behaved. They see Daffy running anywhere in that park and all of a sudden they start thinking rabbit and wanting to kill. It’s god damn frustrating.

The last time that happened we walked over to one of the lakes near the park and I let her off the leash so she could run around me as I walked. She saw her first mallard duck and went *bark* and chased it right into the lake. Obviously she has no issues going swimming like Banjo did. She was very happy when she got out of the water. Unfortunately for her that also meant bath time.

If any of my friends out there have dogs, add Daffy to their dog book ;)
